Music Library

The Hathaway-Howard Music Library (H-H-M Library), in conjunction with the John Brown Watson Memorial Library, supports the educational programs of the University. The library’s primary focus is music from the western classical tradition. Other areas of concentration include: jazz, folk music, musical theatre, world music, and musicians of African descent. In addition to a small collection of educational holdings, the library houses music scores, CD’s, LPs, and VHS. In the near future, the music library will begin a project to archive 78, reel-to-reel recordings and original manuscripts for historical study and research purposes. The entire library collection has rapidly expanded to over 5,900 recordings through the addition of an upgraded collection of CD’s, DVD’s , and VHS recordings and through generous private donations.

The music library and listening lab is located on the second floor in the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Center, Room 204A of the Ariel Lovelace, Grace Wiley and Harold Strong Music Wing. The facility has both listening stations and computer workstations equipped with music software for Music Theory, Ear Training, Music History, and Composition.

The music library is open to all UAPB faculty and students and any currently enrolled student(s) of the University of Arkansas system. The music library aspires to be a resource for the communities of Pine Bluff and the Delta region through acquisitions and expansion of services. If you would like more information about how you can assist or if you would like to make arrangements to donate a personal library, you may contact Dr. Michael Bates, Chairman of the Music Department or Mrs. Mary Finnie, Music Cataloguer/Library Technician.
