Deadline for homecoming parade applications extended to October 4


PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The deadline to turn in applications for the Homecoming parade has been extended to Friday, October 4 according to Florence Caine, homecoming parade chairperson. With the theme, “Feel the Roar,” the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Homecoming Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19 in downtown Pine Bluff.

All fees and applications must be turned in on or before September 30 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cashier’s checks or money orders may be made payable to The UAPB Homecoming Committee (no personal checks or cash will be accepted).

The Parade is one of a series of annual events where the university joins all of its constituents in acknowledgement and celebration of its mission. This year’s theme for homecoming activities is “Pride in the Pride.”

A non-refundable application fee will be required for non-university sponsored organizations. The fees are as follows: cars/motorcycles – $50.00, trucks/SUVs – $75.00, and semi-trailer trucks (18 wheelers) – $150.00. Current elected officials are excluded. Fees may be paid in Corbin Hall, room 148.

Participants other than bands are asked to create a float that follows the homecoming theme. Trophies will be awarded this year to the group with the best float. The criteria for winners will be based on creativity in using the theme.

For local politicians who wish to participate, only incumbent national, state, county and city elected officials may participate in the parade. Campaign materials may not be displayed on the elected official’s vehicle. Also, identification of elected officials will be limited to name and office held.
