Every aspect of our lives is affected by our health and well-being. However, no one is expected to be perfect or know everything about healthy behaviors. As – Zig Ziglar says, “It’s not where you start – it’s where you finish that counts.” Therefore, the goal of the
“Healthy Students, Happy Students” campaign is to encourage every member of the UAPB family, to practice healthy behaviors.
First, we will achieve this goal by equipping everyone with health and wellness knowledge and tools they need to be successful. Second, activities planned with you in mind will not only be educational, but fun for everyone!
The primary campaign focus is to prevent negative behaviors related to physical, sexual, and behavioral health, which if not addressed can limit our ability to achieve our personal, social and professional goals or prevent us from realizing our dreams. Finally, we want you to know that no matter where you are on your health journey, it is not too late to improve. Remember, practice makes "better!
Objectives
The objectives below outline our commitment to assist the UAPB family in taking small steps to wellness. Each step taken can take us farther on our journey to good health.
1. Assess health needs of UAPB students
2. Plan and promote physical, sexual and behavioral health programming
3. Expand campus service capacity with a focus on culturally appropriate behavioral health resources
4. Facilitate best practices and information dissemination
5. Deliver effective programs and events and evaluate results
6. Foster student leadership (peer educators) and behavioral health workforce development
Assessment Partner
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is a participant in the Clinton Foundation's College Health Program - a comprehensive effort to improve student health and wellness and address critical issues such as mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention. The program sponsor, the Clinton Health Matters Initiative (CHMI), aims to establish learning communities of member schools and to position college students to reach their full academic potential by creating a sustainable culture of health on campus.

Funding Partner
Funding in part is provided by the Historically Black Colleges and Universities-Center for Excellence (HBCU-CFE) in Behavioral Health at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) which is funded through a Cooperative Agreement with the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS).
