All faculty and program participants are encouraged to park on the Convention Center lot nearest 8th Street and use Entrance B off of 8th Street.    

All faculty and program participants are required to comply with a security check.  If a faculty member or program participant leaves the holding area, he or she must go through security a second time

GRADUATES 

All students are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior consistent with UAPB's Code of Conduct and dress code for official events.


COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL
Commencement rehearsal is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. Only event participants may attend the rehearsal (graduates, faculty marshals, etc.).  


CHECK-IN FOR COMMENCEMENT
All graduates are encouraged to park on the Convention Center lot nearest 8th Street and use Entrance B off of 8th Street.  Graduates will check-in at the Academic Records table in the Pine Bluff Convention Center Auditorium.


CAP AND GOWN INFORMATION
All candidates are required to wear appropriate academic regalia and will be provided with a mask.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR GRADUATES WITH ACCESSIBLE SERVICES REQUESTS

If you are a graduate and need accessible services for the graduation ceremony, please email the Office of Academic Records at registrar@uapb.edu by December 5, 2022 to request accommodations.


WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY DIPLOMA?

Diplomas will be mailed to graduates in the weeks following Commencement. Diplomas will not be available for pick-up on site.  Students will verify their mailing address during regalia and ticket pickup.

GUESTS 

SEATING
Seating is first come, first serve with the exception of designated areas. 

MASKS
All attendees are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering, but masks are not required.  

PARKING
Free parking as available in any unrestricted parking lot on the Pine Bluff Convention Center property.  Guests should refrain from parking on the lots of local businesses as ticketing and towing will be enforced.  


ADA ACCOMMODATION: SEATING AND PARKING
ADA Parking and Seating are available on a first come, first serve basis. Early arrival is encouraged. The Accessible Services section is reserved for guests needing accessible seating and one additional guest.  Contact Public Safety at 870-575-8102 if you have questions.  Guests who need to be seated in a wheelchair during the ceremony should bring a wheelchair, as wheelchairs will not be provided for use throughout the ceremony.


WHERE IS ADA SEATING LOCATED? 
Pine Bluff Convention Center- ADA seating will be available in a designated area on the arena floor.

Guests who cannot attend graduation in person can watch the Commencement via livestream on the UAPB YouTube page.

Safety and Security Information

CLEAR BAG POLICY 
Please note the following safety procedures.  Guests should allow extra time for entry as every bag allowed into the venue will be checked. Metal detectors will be located at the main entrance. Before screening, guests will empty their pockets of cell phones, keys, and metal objects.  


The University’s Clear Bag Policy will be enforced as follows: 

Backpacks, fanny packs, and large purses (larger than 10” by 10”) are prohibited. The following bags will be permitted into the arena but will be inspected at bag check locations prior to entry: any clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12″x 6″x12″, and any clear plastic freezer bag 1 gallon or smaller. Small purses or clutch bags no larger than 5.5 x 8.5″ (approximately the size of a hand) with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the arena in addition to one of the clear plastic bags (exceptions may be granted for medically necessary items after proper inspection).


PERMITTED ITEMS
  • Clear plastic bags (1 per person) no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (1 per person)
  • Non-transparent clutch purses or wallets no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" (1 per person)
  • Bags necessary for approved medical equipment 
*No other bags or purses, including diaper bags, are permitted and the limit on bags is one per person. Approved family care items (diapers, formula, etc.) must be in a clear plastic bag.


PROHIBITED ITEMS

Prohibited items must be returned to the owner’s car or discarded, and any unlawful items are subject to confiscation. The following items are prohibited:
  • Alcoholic beverages (in all forms)
  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Baby seats
  • Baby strollers
  • Backpacks or any large bags*
  • Balloons
  • Balls or any object that can be used as a projectile
  • Banners
  • Cigarettes, Chewing tobacco ore-cigarettes
  • Confetti
  • Coolers or containers
  • Explosives
  • Folding chairs or stools
  • Food and beverages*
  • Glitter
  • Ice chests
  • Laser pointers
  • Noisemakers of any type (i.e., bells, horns, whistles, etc.)
  • Personal heaters
  • Pets (except for service animals used by disabled guests)
  • Selfie sticks, bi pods, monopods, etc.
  • Signs
  • Stadium seats with armrests and/or over 16-inches wide
  • Streamers
  • Toilet Tissue
  • Umbrellas
  • Weapons (i.e., knives, guns)
