Agriculture Scholarships and Awards

John B. Clark Scholarship ($550). This scholarship is awarded in honor of the late John B. Clark, Extension Farm Management Specialist at UAPB. The award is made to an upperclassman (60 or more hours) Agriculture Economics/Business major who has maintained a GPA of 3.0 or above, demonstrates professional promise and leadership skills and is active in departmental or school extracurricular activities.
Vernon O. White, W. B. & Minnie White Family Scholarship (formerly Lewis Jackson & Vernon White Scholarship) ($500). This scholarship is provided perpetually through a gift from Mrs. Nannette White Jackson ‘41, in memory of her late husband and brother. The award will be made to a student in the Department of Agriculture who has maintained a GPA of 3.0 or above in his or her major area and demonstrates outstanding qualities of leadership and good citizenship, and shows professional promise in the field of Agriculture.
John Kuykendall, Jr. Scholarship ($650). The recipient of this scholarship must be an upperclassman with 30 hours or more majoring in Elementary/Secondary Education or Agriculture Education having a 2.5 GPA or better. Elementary/Secondary Education scholarship awarded even years and Agriculture Education awarded odd years. The funds are to be used for tuition, supplies or textbooks only.
Charlie and Jeanetta Nelms Scholarship ($1,700). The recipient of this scholarship must be an upperclassman from Cross, Crittenden, St. Francis or Lee counties, have a GPA of 2.75 or better, be actively engaged in student and academic activities and demonstrate professional promise. The Agriculture Scholarship will be awarded odd years and the Mathematics Scholarship will be awarded even years.
New Hope A.M.E Church Scholarship (awards vary based on SAFHS endowment- amount totaled $820 in 2010). The Young Adult Sunday School Class of New Hope A.M.E Church in Sherrill, Arkansas, awards several scholarships to students majoring in Agriculture, Aquaculture/Fisheries or Human Sciences. The students must demonstrate qualities of leadership, good professional promise, high moral standards, academic achievement and need. New Hope also provides a $500 scholarship to students majoring in all majors at UAPB
Joe C. Smith Scholarship ($900). The recipient must be an African-American, have a minimum of 28 semester hours majoring in Agriculture, should exhibit good citizenship and demonstrates professional promise and leadership skills. The student must have a 2.5 GPA or better to be considered.
Harold and Deborah Vault Scholarship ($540). This award will be given annually to a student majoring in Agriculture who maintains a 2.75 GPA or better, has 28 or more semester hours, exhibits good citizenship and demonstrates professional promise.
Rev. & Mrs. York Williams, Sr. Scholarship ($950). Provided by the children of York and Lillie Williams, (the late York Williams, Edward Williams, Booker Williams, Barbara Webb, Alford Williams and Alfred Williams) this scholarship will be given annually to a sophomore, junior or senior level student pursuing a degree in Education (even year) or Agriculture (odd year). The recipient must be a full-time student with a cumulative GPA of 2.50. The funds will be used for required tuition, fees, textbooks and supplies.
Awards:
Outstanding Agriculture Student Award. An annual award of $100 and a plaque engraved with the student’s name and year is given to a student in Agriculture who excels in academics and extracurricular activities, supports departmental functions and exemplifies good citizenship.
Agriculture Faculty Incentive Award. A plaque engraved with the student’s name and year is awarded to a student in Agriculture who has accumulated between 30 to 60 semester hours, maintained a high academic record, exemplified good character and participated in extracurricular activities.
