November is International Education Month at UAPB and this year's theme is Advisement for Success in a Challenging and Changing World.
UAPB is featured in a nationally recognized book that is chocked full of success stories and innovative strategies to enhance study abroad programming at HBCUs. The book, The Half Yet to Be Told: Study Abroad and HBCUs, is published by the Forum on Education Abroad, a leading international education professional association. Information about the publication may be accessed via the Forum’s website, Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble. You may also click this link.
Ways to Engage:
- Register and attend the Monday, November 13, 2023 HBCU ZOOM FORUM at 2:00 p.m. Please join UAPB and other HBCU representatives for a discussion on innovative education abroad practices that prepare students to be leaders in a challenging and changing global context.
The session will be conducted on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. CST.
HBCU Forum Description: Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have a long history of involvement in International Education, which dates to the 19th century. This history is, however, overshadowed or obscured by discourse that focuses on demographics around study abroad. The 2023 Region VII HBCU Forum has as its foci HBCUs’ multi-pronged approaches to International Education that promote study abroad, as well as globalization on multiple levels of engagement.
Please register via the link below or the QR code in the flyer. We look forward to your participation in this important dialogue! Link to use for HBCU FORUM REGISTRATION: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0rf--upzsuGNR7UJi6RVGvnXBdnwN26Kyh#/registration

- Continue in the Global Dialogue with Partner Institutions. The Office of International Programs and Studies (OIPS) invites the university community to join with us in a series of dialogue sessions, information meetings and events that explore our role in promoting peace, a shared sense of belonging and effective leadership in a challenging and rapidly changing global context. We use the occasion of International Education Month to launch this series which will continue into the spring academic semester. As a part of this process, we will aim to see ourselves as an integral part of the global community – avoiding the false notions of “here and there” or “us versus them.”
