Admissions Policy

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is committed to ensuring that each student has the opportunity to be academically successful, develop personally and professionally, and graduate prepared for a career or professional and graduate school admission. The University seeks to establish guidelines that assist students with their ability to benefit from and be successful with the college experience. 

Effective fall 2018, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will enroll students in the following categories:

FULL ADMISSION

  • Completed the high school core curriculum and received the diploma or GED equivalent
  • An ACT score of 19 or above or SAT score of 980 or above
  • A high school GPA of 2.00 or above

CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

  • Completed the high school core curriculum and received the diploma or GED equivalent
  • An ACT score of 15-18 or SAT score equivalent of 810-970
  • A high school GPA of 2.00 or above

NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION

  • Completed the high school core curriculum and received the diploma or GED equivalent
  • Be 25 years of age or older
  • Have not taken the ACT/SAT or have scores beyond the 5-year statute of limitations
  • Receive suitable ACCUPLACER exam placement scores for English, math, and reading

ADMISSION APPEAL

  • Completed the high school core curriculum and received the diploma or GED equivalent
  • Apply for and complete the Admission Appeals Process

FIRST-TIME FRESHMEN (Minimum ACT/SAT scores and GPA)

  • An ACT score of 14 or SAT score of 800 and GPA of 3.00 or above
  • An ACT score of 19 or SAT score of 980 and GPA of 1.98
  • An ACT score of 18 or SAT score of 940 and GPA of 1.99

TRANSFER STUDENT

  • A college GPA less than 2.00 with 30 transferable credits
  • A college GPA less than 2.00 and fewer than 30 transferable credits,
    •  ACT of 15 or SAT score of 810 or above

Conditionally admitted and students approved through appeal must complete an Individualized Student Success Plan with the Student Success Center and agree to:

  • Attend student success workshops and new student orientation;
  • Work with a faculty/staff mentor/advisor;
  • Attend tutoring sessions in math, English, and/or reading;
  • Complete all remedial/developmental courses during the first 30 semester hours; and
  • Enroll in the summer LIONS Program before the freshman year.

All applicants must submit the following:

  • Completed Application for Admission (www.uapb.edu);
  • ACT/SAT scores (Federal school code: 001086) or Acuplacer scores if a non-traditional applicant
  • Official and final high school or GED transcript;
  • College transcripts, if attended; and
  • Current immunization record.
