The Department of Human Sciences prepares graduates for careers and for graduate and professional schools through academic programs that engage them in research to solve stakeholder problems. The faculty develops research programs that generate new knowledge based on emerging trends and provide educational experiences that prepare students for careers in human sciences and related fields.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Human Sciences is offered with the following concentrations in:
•Human Development and Family Studies
•Merchandising, Textiles and Design
•Nutrition and Dietetics (Didactic Program in Dietetics)
A certificate program in Family Financial Planning is also offered.
The Department operates the UAPB Child Development Center for ages 18 months to 4 years. The center is accredited by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education.
The Department of Human Sciences is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Didactic Program in Dietetics (Nutrition and Dietetics) has been granted Candidacy for accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education by the American Dietetics Association
