Beginning Farmer Program

The overall goal of the UAPB Small Farm Program is to encourage and assist socially disadvantaged, veteran and beginning farmers and ranchers with their operations and in participating equitably in the full range of agricultural, forestry and related programs offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The UAPB Small Farm Program’s Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program
is designed to assist those who have been farming for 10 years or less in 20 counties in northeast, southeast and southwest Arkansas. The farmers are able to increase their success in farming, ranching and management of nonindustrial private forest lands.

With the support of partners, the program provides education, mentoring and technical assistance to participants. Beginning farmers and ranchers increase their knowledge and skills and gain the necessary tools to make informed decisions that enhance the sustainability of their operations.
